The Axarquia is the eastern part of the province of Malaga. It is the warmest region in Europe with a subtropical climate. On the 50 km long coast, the sea becomes balancing, like air conditioning that cools in summer and warms in winter. The average annual temperature is over 20 degrees Celsius.
The Axarquia is also one of the most mountainous regions in Spain. The mountains reach over 2000m. Despite its proximity to Malaga, the Axarquia is still natural and original. Besides tourism, agriculture is still the main branch of the economy. It is the main growing area for avacados and mangoes in Europe.
